Safer Living with the New Streetlights in Gusinje thanks to Norway

The project included the installation of 25 poles and lamps with a strength of 700 mA, thus the energy efficiency of public lighting in Gusinje reached 15% in relation to the standards.

The Kingdom of Norway, through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro", supported the installation of new public LED lighting in four streets of the settlement Begluci in Gusinje. Thanks to this infrastructure project worth 37,500 dollars, which was implemented by the Municipality of Gusinje, security for more than 800 inhabitants of this settlement has been improved.

"Improving the infrastructure is one of the priorities of our municipality. With the support of the Kingdom of Norway, we have managed to increase the safety of our residents who live in the four streets of Begluci, because this part of the city is now illuminated with new LED lighting. The municipality of Gusinje continues to develop and we believe that the Kingdom of Norway will remain our partner", the Mayor of Gusinje Anela Čekić said.

The project included the installation of 25 poles and lamps with a strength of 700 milliamperes. Thus, the energy efficiency of public lighting in Gusinje reached 15% in relation to the standards.

"Apart from the fact that this project has provided better living conditions for dozens of households, it is important to emphasize the domestic and responsible attitude of the local self-government in the implementation of the project. This also refers to future maintenance costs, because LED lighting reduces energy consumption by up to 70 percent," the "Norway for You - Montenegro" Project Manager Armen Čekić said.

The Municipality of Gusinje implemented this project within the Public Call for Local Infrastructure Development, within the project "Norway for You - Montenegro". The Kingdom of Norway provided 33,450 dollars, and the Municipality of Gusinje co-funded with 4,050 dollars.
