Two municipalities are implementing projects to improve the infrastructure for small business development through the procurement and installation of retail facilities, with the total allocated amount of USD 63,000

Plav - Petnjica, 2 February 2021 - Small local producers in the municipalities of Plav and Petnjica will get a chance for better placement of their products with the support of the Kingdom of Norway through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro". These two municipalities are implementing projects to improve the infrastructure for small business development through the procurement and installation of retail facilities, with the total allocated amount of USD 63,000.

"With the support of the Kingdom of Norway, constructed wooden facilities provide additional space for the affirmation of small local producers, which are a specialty of the Plav area. This infrastructure also creates the possibility of organizing holiday markets and similar events on the model of other more developed municipalities, creating benefits to the local population," the Mayor of Plav Nihad Canović said.

The project "Improvement of infrastructure for small business development" was supported by the Kingdom of Norway through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro" with USD 54,650, while the municipalities of Plav and Petnjica co-funded with USD 8,247.

"Petnjica and Plav, guided by common interests in inter-municipal cooperation, are an example of good practice with a recommendation to implement similar projects in the future, and we owe gratitude to the citizens of Norway, the Government of Norway and its Embassy for supporting this project. We have the opportunity to bring closer and strengthen cooperation with local associations, individual agricultural producers and other entities for the development of small business through the benefits of this project," the Mayor of Petnjica Samir Agović said.

Through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro", the Kingdom of Norway has allocated USD 250,000 to support social inclusion through the development of infrastructure to improve living conditions in lesser developed municipalities of Montenegro.

"The project implemented in partnership of municipalities of Plav and Petnjica, will improve the opportunities of local producers to sell their products and thus increase their income, but also to affirm local producers to enter the market together," said the project manager "Norway for you - Montenegro" Armen Čekić.

The “Norway for You - Montenegro” project, implemented by UNOPS, aims to contribute to the balanced socio-economic development and the improvement of local infrastructure in lesser developed municipalities of Montenegro.
