Sewing Brings Greater Social Inclusion with the Support of the Kingdom of Norway

Five unemployed women with disabilities from Bijelo Polje started a four-month tailoring and sewing training.

Five unemployed women with disabilities from Bijelo Polje started a four-month tailoring and sewing training, within the project "Training and Employment of Women with Disabilities in the Protection Workshop" implemented by the Municipality of Bijelo Polje with the financial support of the Kingdom of Norway through "Norway for you - Montenegro" Project.

The coordinator of the project team of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, Samedin Agović, says that the participants were selected at the public call of the Employment Bureau in Bijelo Polje.

"The Municipality of Bijelo Polje received the support from the Kingdom of Norway to procure four specialized industrial machines in addition to this training. The Municipality of Bijelo Polje strongly supports the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities in accordance with the Law on Protection Against Discrimination of Persons with Disabilities, so the women with disabilities to receive equal treatment on the labor market," Agović said.

After obtaining a certificate and testing the acquired knowledge and skills, three women will get employment in the Protective Workshop of the civil organization of the Association of Paraplegics Bijelo Polje and Mojkovac for a period of one year, with the possibility of further extension of employment. Pursuant to the Law on Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities, participants will receive monthly monetary compensation of 15% of the average gross salary in Montenegro, in the amount of 127.90 USD.

The goal of the project "Training and Employment of Women with Disabilities in the Protection Workshop" is to improve the entrepreneurial infrastructure and strengthen entrepreneurial knowledge and skills through the employment of a vulnerable group consisting of women with disabilities. During the project, an effective mechanism of communication and cooperation between civil society organizations, vulnerable groups, local authorities and other stakeholders at the local level in the field of employment and protection of persons with disabilities from discrimination will be established, the degree of inclusion of women with disabilities in the labor market will be increased. product competitiveness in the market. The project is funded by the Kingdom of Norway with  18,876.50 USD.
